Artist Note: Lynx are typically a cat of the far North.  They are heavier bodied and longer in the leg than our native bobcat.  Their spots are also not as prominent.

The model for Long Stretch was a Lynx named Crystal owned by Jan Van Hoesen.  Crystal is an extraordinary cat and very beautiful.  She has been used as an educational animal that has traveled to many Northern Michigan schools.  Jan is registered with the DNR to take care of and handle orphaned animals such as Crystal.  She has dedicated her life to these animals and has a proper facility.   It must be noted that any wild animal is a bad choice for a pet.   A wild cat should always remain wild, especially considering the number of homeless domesticated cats in shelters.
